8/30/2023 0 Comments Memory games imagesSo, we have already explained that photographic memory, the condition of intentionally recalling every memory from any time whenever you want, is a myth. They are called Eidetikers, referring to their eidetic memory. Photographic Memory: What Are the Differences?Īs it is nearly impossible for a person to recall every single memory that they have, there are people that have a more advanced memory of images and pictures than others. So keep reading to figure out how these two memory types differentiate from each other and why some signs of photographic memory actually are eidetic memory. If you’re not looking for a picture-perfect memory, eidetic memory is an enhanced memory skill that is quite fascinating as well. On the other hand, just before quitting looking for signs your child has a photographic memory, you need to know eidetic memory. However, a case of an actual photographic memory has never been reported yet. We know that the idea of remembering every single detail of an image, reciting the exact lines of a book you had read almost 10 years ago, and recalling the events that happened when you were only two is amazing. For parents who are looking for a photographic memory test for their child, we’ve got the best photographic memory test for kids! □īefore learning the details, don’t forget to take our free online test now to discover how great your children’s or your memory skills are! □

8/30/2023 0 Comments Hella mega tourThis concert was loaded with enough radio hits for a Time Life box set - and with a retro hard-rock vibe like a flashback to 1988's Monster of Rock concert at the Metrodome. The acoustics were buoyed further by Monday's many singalong moments. Giant video screens and a well-tuned mega-sized sound system extended out of the stage, reminding even the nosebleed-seat fans that Minneapolis' MLB stadium is still leagues above its NFL stadium as a concert venue. Even the Interrupters set had fans join in chorus with their snippets of Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" and Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It." The grassy field, almost completely covered in rubber flooring, was the one thing tightly masked at the event. "How many of you are at your first concert of the year?" the Interrupters' Kevin Bivona asked as the hot sun bore down on the stage in center field. ahead of (in order) Weezer, Fall Out Boy and Green Day - the capacity concert crowd of more than 35,000 fans looked outwardly enthused and seemed blissfully unconcerned about COVID worries. In short, Minnesota fans were hella-excited for the Hella Mega Tour, the biggest rock show in the Twin Cities this summer.įinally pulling into Target Field a year later than planned, the four-band, 5 ½-hour rock concert seemed to knock all the worries and woes of 2020-2021 out of Target Field like a home run when Nelson Cruz still played for the Twins.įrom the moment opening band the Interrupters took the stage at 5:30 p.m. And they showed up largely unmasked despite the lack of vaccine requirements. They came young and old, despite two of the three co-headlining bands dating back to the ancient 1990s. But the guys have a knack for big, dumb and irresistible stompers - from “Longview” to “Holiday” to “When I Come Around” - that draw from the energy of punk and the archness of ’60s Britpop. They arrived early, despite the music falling on a Monday. It’s kind of amazing Green Day are still a huge draw some 27 years after the release of their breakthrough album “Dookie,” which was literally named after excrement. It helps that the band embraced their role as emo’s Smash Mouth and started releasing singles that sample the theme song from “The Munsters.”) On Monday night, Wentz’s face was kind of sour, but he had a few fun moments like his story about how the band’s manager told them “the kids don’t really listen to rock music.” (The manager is not entirely wrong FOB is one of the few guitar-driven rock bands that Top 40 radio still plays. But, as always, he lacks even a whiff of charisma as a frontman and lets bassist Pete Wentz act as the public face of the band.ĬHICAGO, ILLINOIS – AUGUST 15: Patrick Stump (L) and Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy perform during the Hella Mega Tour at Wrigley Field on Augin Chicago, Illinois. Lead singer Patrick Stump remains a vocal powerhouse and, if anything, his unexpected break from touring may have further strengthened his pipes. Weezer already put out two new albums this year and Cuomo says he’s got four more seasonally themed records he’ll release over the course of 12 months.įall Out Boy played for an hour as well, which is just the right amount of time to endure the Chicago foursome. Lead singer Rivers Cuomo - who has gleefully encouraged Weezer to transform into a living meme - now has a mullet because, of course he does. (Photo by Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images)Īfter a brief opening set from Los Angeles ska punk band the Interrupters (whose single “She’s Kerosene” is literally upsetting), Weezer took the stage for a polished hour that managed to survey their entire career, from “Undone - The Sweater Song” and “Buddy Holly” to “All My Favorite Songs” and (shudder) their cover of Toto’s “Africa.” Rivers Cuomo of Weezer performs during The Hella Mega Tour at Citi Field on Augin New York City. The crowd - heavy with craft beer/bike dad types and all-growed-up now suburban punks - seemed happy to get back to some sense of concertgoing normalcy and cheered, sang along and jumped around to all the big hits in an evening full of them. Whatever the case, with a nearly sold-out ballpark, it stands as the metro’s biggest concert since Garth Brooks filled U.S. (Plus, nothing’s really about Gen X, because other generations don’t really acknowledge Gen X.) Weezer, meanwhile, manages to score a big, if utterly shameless, radio hit every year or so. Fall Out Boy’s first wave of success in the mid-’00s coincided with Green Day’s massive second wave. It’s tempting to classify Monday night’s Hella Mega Tour stop at Target Field as an evening of Gen X nostalgia, given that two of the three main acts - Green Day and Weezer - saw their careers skyrocket in the post-Nirvana ’90s.īut the presence of Fall Out Boy on the bill proved it was really more about millennial nostalgia. 8/30/2023 0 Comments Cobalt chloride complexSo, as you can see, all these changes are undoubtedly in accordance with Le Chatelier's Principle. If you add #"AgNO"_3#, which will remove #"Cl"^(-)# ions from the solution, the equilibrium will shift to the left and the color will be pink again. If you add #"HCl"#, which will increase the concentration of #"Cl"^(-)"# ions, the equilibrium will shift to the right and the color will be blue. If you add water, the equilibrium will shift to the left and the color will be pink. Likewise, any other stress applied to the equilibrium will produce a color change in the solution. When the solution is being cooled, heat is being removed from the equilibrium, which means that a shift towards to the reactants will take place - the solution will turn pink, the color of the #^(2+)# ion. This shift in the equilibrium will turn the solution blue, the color of the #CoCl_4^(2-)# ion. the solution is being heated, the equilibrium will shift in the direction of the products. The commercially available Drierite® contains about 2 cobalt chloride as indicator, which can be leached out into various solvents i.e. We can say that heat is a reactant in this equilibrium. The forward reaction is endothermic, which means the equilibrium could be written as The #^(2+)# ion is pink, while the #CoCl_4^(2-)# ion is blue. #^(2+) + 4Cl^(-) rightleftharpoons CoCl_4^(2-) + 6H_2O# Cobalt(II) ions(pink) react with chloride ions according to the reaction below to form a blue coloured ion complex. washed several times with absolute methanol and dried over calcium chloride in a desiccator. In aqueous solution, the following equilibrium will be established between the following two ions: A new hydrogen bonded Cobalt(II) Schiff base complex. When dissolved in water, both #"CoCl"_2#, and #"CoCl"_2*6"H"_2"O"# will produce the complex ion #^(2+)#. The main species involved in the reaction is cobalt (II) chloride, or #"CoCl"_2#, which usually comes in the form of a hexahydrate, #"CoCl"_2*6"H"_2"O"#. These complexes have different colors and different empirical formulas. A fourth complex can be made by slightly different techniques. This Flinn handout also gives important disposal instructions.Yes, the color changes that accompany the heating or cooling of the equilibrium mixture are very much in accordance with Le Chatelier's Principle. At least three different cobalt (III) complexes can be isolated when CoCl 2 is dissolved in aqueous ammonia and then oxidized by air to the +3 oxidation state. Chloro Complexes of Cobalt (II) Materials Crystalizing Dish 0. In their experiment, the effect of temperature on the equilibrium shift is explored. [Flinn has a PDF handout and video with a similar lab except acetone is not used. The following year, they concluded that it was worth the wait. After a discussion about the lab, the student decided to take grade 12 chemistry, just to experience it for themselves. In fact, once a grade 11 chemistry student asked about the experiment after eyeing the set of these test tubes in the fume hood where I was evaporating off the acetone. I really enjoy experiencing students' surprised reactions when the two colourful layers form. The compound is prepared from an aqueous solution of ethylenediamine and virtually any cobalt(II) salt, such as cobalt(II) chloride. The solution is purged with air to oxidize the cobalt(II)-ethylenediamine complexes to cobalt(III). This lab comes from Chemistry: A Modern Course, Teacher Resource Book, Merrill (1987) - still enlightening students 30 years later. The difference in density is what allows the colour change to occur at the top of the test tube. The acetone undergoes hydrogen bonding with the H 2O, causing the equilibrium to shift to the right producing more of the blue CoCl 4 2- ion. The blue layer on top of a pink layer in the cover photo is accomplished by SLOWLY adding 10 mL of acetone toĥ mL of aqueous 0.2 M CoCl 2. Students experiment with shifting the equilibrium and observing the colour change by This classic Le Châtelier’s Principle lab explores the reversible chemical reaction:Ĭo(H 2O) 6 2+ + 4Cl – + heat -> CoCl 4 2– + 6H 2O The blue colour is the result of cobalt chloride complex ions (CoCl 4 2–) in less dense acetone. On the front cover, the pink colour in the test tube comes from cobalt(II) ions in water, Co(H 2O) 6 2+. 8/30/2023 0 Comments Zankou chicken garlic sauceServed with 2 fresh Pita Breads and 2 Garlic Sauces.Ī curated blend of garbanzo beans, raw herbs and spices, crafted from scratch and fried in 100% peanut oil. This may be due to the fact that the high volume of launches using the Falcon 9 rocket – around 50 this year alone – has given the company’s engineers plenty of time to iron out mechanical issues. While specific data on private industry’s launch schedules is hard to come by, it does seem that, more often than not, SpaceX launches, for example, go off on time. Unlike government agencies, private launch companies have a strong profit motive to launch frequently. All signs suggest that the upward trend in launches will continue. This increase is mostly driven by the rise of private space companies like SpaceX serving as resuppliers for the International Space Station and carrying satellites into orbit. Space launches are happening more frequently every year. It’s not surprising that it will delay launches if there is a need to check on the safety of craft or crew. In the years since, NASA has demonstrated a concerted effort to learn from the mistakes of the past. In a truly stinging report from an internal investigation, NASA highlighted its own “ broken safety culture” and a failure to learn from the mistakes of the Challenger disaster. That disaster in particular caused NASA to pause operations and take stock of its launch strategies. But the breakup of shuttle Columbia after entering the Earth’s atmosphere in February 2003 was a notable exception that killed all seven astronauts onboard. Most of NASA’s launches went well after the Challenger disaster. After the tragedy, NASA created its Office of Flight Safety. Astronauts Ed White, Roger Chaffee and Gus Grissom were all killed when a fire started in the crew cabin during a launch pad test. The rocket in question was meant to go on an early test flight for the first U.S. The first lesson came in January 1967, during a test for the Apollo 1 mission. NASA has learned the hard way to be cautious of these scenarios. Postponements, scrubs and delays tend to occur due to bad weather conditions, mechanical issues or health concerns of the crew – any of which could threaten the safety of the craft and the people aboard. NASA wants to ensure a safe and successful mission. While the repeated postponements and scrubs of Artemis 1 are disheartening, these delays are for good reason. If a launch misses its window, you usually can’t simply launch again the next day. Due to the rotation of the Earth and position of the Moon, launching a rocket at certain times requires substantially less fuel than launching at other times. This first Artemis launch has experienced both postponements and scrubs, but part of the reason there have been such long stretches of time between launch attempts is due to the concept of launch windows. Sadly, the shuttle and astronauts aboard were lost in an explosion 74 seconds after launch. The launch was also scrubbed twice due to weather and technical problems, and finally the mission experienced two delays on the day of the actual launch. First, the mission experienced two postponements for a total of three days to accommodate the landing of the space shuttle Columbia. The ill-fated launch of the space shuttle Challenger in January 1986 experienced all of these hold-ups. A delay is when a launch occurs later in a day than originally planned, but does happen in the same day. Scrubs are usually a last-minute decision triggered by bad weather or mechanical issues causing safety concerns. Scrubs are when a mission is halted on the day the launch is supposed to occur and rescheduled for a later date. Postponements refer to pushing a planned launch date back to a later date. Launches that don’t go off on time are classified as either postponements, scrubs or delays. But as private space launch activities continue to grow, the odds of watching an on-time launch are slowly improving. While Artemis 1 is continuing the long tradition of delayed NASA launches, there are good reasons for the high level of caution that underlies these delays. Of NASA’s 135 Space Shuttle missions, only about 40 percent launched on time. and other nations have been at launching rockets into space over the decades, a huge number of launches get delayed due to weather or safety concerns. One lesson I’ve learned is that as successful as the U.S. I am a professor of space studies who teaches courses in space law and history. But this launch has already been pushed back four times this year - twice due to technical issues and once apiece for a tropical storm and a hurricane. I love a good space launch, and I have been eagerly awaiting NASA’s powerful new Space Launch System rocket to take off as the first part of NASA’s ambitious Artemis Mission to put U.S. |
